On weekday mornings there is an inorganic roundtable net that meets at 8 AM on the Washtenaw 145.150 MHz repeater for a 30-minute daily kick-start. It is a fun net to which the amateur community is not only invited but warmly encouraged to attend. Because the repeater reaches not only the whole of Washtenaw County but also most of Jackson, Livingston, Wayne, and Monroe Counties, attendees to this net include those from the cities Canton, Chelsea, Dearborn Heights, Canton, and Milford. However, Aeryck is always mobile for this net and reaches the repeater from locations throughout southeastern Michigan. On rare occasions (atmospheric conditions permitting) we have had a checkin from Findlay, Ohio.
On July 24, 2021, Mike (KA8IMZ) and his wife Judy hosted a Saturday evening get-together for any of those active on the morning roundtable net. Attendees included our host Mike (KA8IMZ) and his wife Judy, myself (N8QM) and my wife Sandie, Ricke (AJ8V) and his wife Chris, Aeryck (N8FPV) and Steve (WQ8T). Sadly, Aeryck’s wife could not attend the event because of another commitment. But she sent her regards. Wishing to attend but otherwise occupied were Larry (N8BWB) and Chuck (AA8VS).
It was plain for anyone to see that Judy had done much work in preparation for the gettogether with the exquisite banquet-style food dishes that she prepared. One of the dishes that I especially liked was a dish that ordinarily I would pass on–sauerkraut.
And no such event as this one would be complete without a tour of the host’s ham shack. Mike has so much ham stuff that it was literally impossible for me to fit through one of his neatly organized isles. Mike has countless Heathkit antiques as well as Collins, Eico, and so many more pieces of fabulous gear that it boggles the mind.
