At the September meeting KD8LCF proposed a set of guidelines for the administration of nets on the 146.88 repeater.
As the club, and the repeater trustee are responsible to the FCC for the operation of the repeater, the following guidelines for nets are proposed:
- If a club member wants to start a new, regularly-scheduled net, or change the time/day for an existing net which relies on the club volunteers, that net or change shall be proposed to the membership and the net manager for discussion and a vote. If the net manager and membership agree, the net will be added to the schedule or the existing time changed and volunteer operators will be assigned to cover the operation of the net. If there are insufficient volunteer operators available at the desired date/time, then the club member proposing the new net will be responsible for providing net control operators.
- Other nets, either regular or ad-hoc that are proposed by members or other operators that do not rely on the clubs’ volunteer operators, are permitted and encouraged so long as they don’t conflict with existing nets and otherwise adhere to FCC regulations and good operating practices.
The overarching intent of these guidelines is to encourage utilization of the repeater and operations in accordance with FCC regulations and good operating practices.
