Record Number of Checkins for Thursday Net

Each Thursday night the Cascades Amateur Radio Society meets by 2 meter net to share brief nut-shell topics of interest. Tonight, August 20, we had an all-time record number of check ins–19 if net control is included. Check ins included N8QM, N8HLC, W8SRC, N8IUM, K8LEC, W3IGT, KA8VLN, KD8LCF, KE8NBV, N8CDK, KD8AAD, KD8DRT, KE8NFL, NK8L, K8TMI, WB8ICN, WD8IGK, KD8PHN, and finally KE8NKZ. There were three check ins that we had not seen in many years and two check ins whom we had never heard from before. One of these was KE8NKZ, Lorenzo, who was only 15 years old and has only been licensed as a ham less than one year. After the net there was much interest in having QSOs with Lorenzo from our members. It is always fascinating to find a young person interest in amateur radio and members always take a special interest in young people.
