I just realized how long ago Field Day was, and how long it’s been since I’ve posted! Safe to say I’m overdue here, but I wanted to do a quick shout-out to all of those who attended field day and did so much to make it happen. I’m sure I’ll miss someone in my call outs, but first and foremost goes to our field day chair, Dennis. Dennis makes it happen every year, and has a handle on all the things that make it go. Not to be left out, Dick Stanley, Dave Foster, Tim Bair, and a host of others got things off the ground for us.
We operated solely on generator power with two radios at 100W. As is so often the case, Saturday evening there was a cookout. Again, many thanks to Dennis all those who brought food and helped get everything setup for the eating function. As Tim sometimes says, we’re an eating club that also happens to do Ham radio.
The crew of operators got us over 200 contacts and I have to confess I met people at this years activity that I’ve never seen before. This is what Field Day is all about. Get out, get on the air, and meet people. Amateur radio is so often an activity that happens behind closed doors and seldom shared with the public. I’m proud to say that our club has been taking strides in getting out and being visible at the Jackson and Chelsea fair and I hope we continue to do so with enthusiasm.
