If the antenna is resonant (50 + j0 Ohms) for the input frequency, then any length of coax is irrelevant. But if the antenna vector impedance is something else (which it ALWAYS is) then the transmission line affects it. This presentation examines a commercially available mag mount antenna manufactured explicitly for use in the amateur allocated 2-meter band. We look at what it takes of optimizing it to actually achieve a true 50 + j0 Ohms vector impedance.<\/p>\n<p>In this presentation we have gone to great lengths to not present the technical mumbo-jumbo behind all of this.
